 Blitzsafe's newest addition to their M-Link product line of iPOD interfaces - The FORD/CAN M-LINK2! - A low-cost, high quality iPOD controlling interface!
The Blitzsafe FORD/CAN M-LINK2 is an integrated iPOD interface that includes an auxiliary input converter as part of the product, and works with the factory radio in many 2005-2008 Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles (see Specific Vehicle Application List below). This device is said to be absolutely stable in the Ford CAN-Bus system and will not crash or loose connection with the factory radio during periods of time when the radio or the vehicle is turned off. All of the various iPOD control modes are assessable through button presses on the factory radio. There are no dip switches to flip...no need to pull the radio everytime you want to change the mode of operation of the interface!
The interface has three different operational modes:
Remote Mode - lets you control the iPOD from the iPOD itself, by pressing the 'AUX' button once, placing the factory radio into the 'SAT1' mode. In this mode, all iPOD operational functions are unlocked and display of the iPOD text is through the iPOD itself and not through the factory radio.
Extended Mode - allows you complete control of the iPOD through the factory radio or steering wheel controls (if vehicle is so equipped), by pressing the 'AUX' button a second time, placing the factory radio into the 'SAT2' mode, allowing the iPod text information to stream across the radio's display. In this mode, you can use the radio controls to select your music by any Playlist, Genre, Artist, or Album on the iPOD, and then drill down through each of the music categories to get to any specific song. You can also activate the iPOD 'Shuffle" function through the radio as well, being able to shuffle through any selected Ablum or Playlist or shuffle through all songs on the entire iPOD.
Auxiliary Input Mode - allows you to also connect the audio from another audio source, like a portable DVD player, or satellite radio or any external audio source, and play that audio through the factory radio by pressing the 'AUX' button a third time, placing the radio into the 'SAT3' mode. Text display from the external audio device, and control of the external audio device will remain with the external audio device and not the through factory radio when in the Auxiliary Input mode.
Important Operational Note: - If your vehicle has the factory Sirius satellite option installed, the interface will automatically recognize the satellite tuner's presence, and will give you all the same iPOD control options, displays and functions that have been describe in the 'SAT1' and 'SAT2' modes through the RSE/DVD source input, being identified on the display of the factory radio as 'DVD Remote' for Remote Mode operation, and 'DVD Extended' for Extended Mode operation.
Important Warranty Notice: (09/08/08) - Blitzsafe warrants the iPOD cable contained in this M-Link product, as well as their iPOD replacement cable, which is sold separately, for a period of 30 days from purchase on materials, workmanship and useability. Logjam Electronics will continue to honor our 1 year warranty on all Blitzsafe M-Link products, including the cable, but will change our warranty on the replacement M-Link iPOD cable down to 30 days.
Important Compatibility Information:
Compatible with the iPOD Classic, iPOD mini, iPOD nano, G3, G4, and G5 iPODs, plus the 1st generation iPhone™. Note: The new 3G iPhone and new iPOD Touch and iPOD nano-chromatic will work with this interface but the devices will NOT charge when connected!
Works with either the factory satellite tuner or the factory Rear Seat Entertainment/DVD (RSE) installed - Will NOT work if you have both the satellite tuner AND the RSE installed and connected.
Works with or without the in-dash single CD player or 6-disc in-dash CD changer, and will not disable either function.
Works with or without the external factory CD changer and does not disable the CD changer.
Works with factory navigation radios and does not disable the nav function.
Auxiliary input is an audio-only connection and does not provide text display or device control of the audio device connected through the auxiliary input.
