 The Soundgate SDSBMW allows you to add not one, but two audio sources in between the factory CD changer and the factory radio, keeping your factory CD changer functional! A simple three position rocker switch, which mounts in the passenger compartment and is about the size of a quarter, and will allow you to switch between CD Changer and the two auxiliary inputs.
With this device installed, you will have created two auxiliary audio inputs to your factory radio, which will allow you to plug in any external audio source, like a portable MP3 player, satellite tuner, DVD player, or iPod, and play the audio from that external audio device directly through your factory radio. This is a direct connect device and NOT an FM Modulator. An FM modulator requires you to tune to an FM radio station in order to listen to the audio from the external audio device. While this is a direct connect interface, it is only an audio connection and does not allow you to control the external audio device that is connected to it.
Each Docking Station cable comes complete with a remote control cable and a Three position rocker selector switch that allows the user to easily select between CD changer "O", Input "I" and Input "II".
Additional Add-on Items:
Convert the single auxiliary input of this device into three auxiliary inputs by adding the AUX3.
Add a Zune™ interface to this auxiliary input by adding the ZNCBLPAK Soundgate CORE™ Cable pack.
Add an iPOD® interface to this auxiliary input by adding the SoundGate PDCBLPAK CORE™ Cable pack. (Provides 5V charging for all new iPODs and iPhones, including the 3G)
Convert the RCA inputs on this device to a 3.5mm input by adding the PIE 3.5-RCA6MM Interface.
IMPORTANT APPLICATION INFORMATION:
The vehicle MUST have a direct-connect CD changer installed and continuously running for the docking station to work.
Will NOT work with the DSP option or the BMW Assist option installed.
